„Love&Loss“

– The price we pay –

An art project for the awareness of grief as a part of life&love

In case you don’t know: Besides being a photographer I am a grief counselor. And as literally every other grief counselor that I ever met I also had my own personal, intense and heartbreaking experience with people that I loved and that I lost. I decided to educate myself and help others through this fundamental, life changing thing called „grief“.

The more I learned about grief the more I saw that we almost know nothing about it until its too late to „prepare“ ourselves either for or own frief journey or to be a good and important companion for someone else who lost someone. I understood that with a little more education and awareness people wouldn’t be so lonesome and left behind anymore. So it happened that my heart started to beat for grief activism.

Making grief visible, empowering people to talk about their loss and of course the whole dialogue leads to helping and loving each other through grief. I truly believe that this can make our hearts wider and wiser. And we will ALL experience loss. So lets go for it!

Welcome to my h(e)art project „love&loss- the price we pay“

I wrote a book with the title „How many times do we die?“ to explain that this life has nothing to do with eternity. That we are born and we die, we laugh and we cry, we love and we lose because that‘s life. And if we decide to love, if we want to be loved, if we want to find the love of our life, to walk towards them down the aisle to swear „…until death do us part.“- then let’s face exactly this: if life will not tear you apart-death definitely will. And I do understand that we try to avoid that thought. But even if we seem to not get it until it’s our front row at the funeral- we should try to speak out loud about grief, empower those who feel abandoned while they grief and learn for ourselves a lot about it until this knowledge is necessary.

What it is about exactly

But this project is not about grief as a simple, painful experience. This project is about love and as one of my favorite grief activists would say it: „Grief is love in its most wild form.“

I want to portrait you and your story, show your face and your soul as a survivor and a lover. I want to ask you how you grieve, how you survived, how you cope, what you love and whom or what you have lost. I want to know it all. And i want to ask you if grief is the price we pay for love. (Long story short portraits+interview).

I dream of a place, a gallery, where all your stories and the portraits will be displayed as an homage to life&love in a deeply true, maybe heartbreaking but stunningly beautiful and authentic way.

If you are up for being part of the love&loss project– write me a message! It would be an honor for me to talk with you about your journey.

Love,
Luna
